Energy 2030's targets include:

Beyond 2030, MGE is committed to reducing carbon emissions at least 80% by 2050. If we can go further faster by working with our customers, we will.

Cleaner energy, the electrification of transportation and engagement around energy efficiency represent key, long-term strategies for reducing carbon emissions.

Saratoga wind farm

MGE's newest wind farm, Saratoga, is under construction near Saratoga, Iowa, with completion expected by early 2019. At 66 megawatts (MW), Saratoga is MGE's largest wind farm to date.

The $108 million investment in clean energy represents nearly half of the company's $231 million in projected capital expenditures this year.

Forward Energy Center

MGE also is purchasing an ownership share in the Forward Energy Center in Wisconsin, which—when combined with Saratoga—grows MGE-owned wind generation by more than 200%. These new investments build upon MGE's record of advancing cleaner energy sources.

February marks ten years since MGE's Top of Iowa 3 wind farm became operational. The 30-MW wind farm increased MGE's wind resource capacity by 12 times in 2008 and continues to serve MGE customers.
