MGE Named Green Master for Fourth Straight Year

Our utility subsidiary, Madison Gas and Electric (MGE), has attained the highest distinction possible in a statewide sustainability program for the fourth consecutive year. The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council has announced MGE is being recognized as a 2017 Green Master.

Voluntary program

The statewide program evaluates participating companies on their sustainability actions in nine areas. Companies submit information about the steps they have taken to use less energy, cut waste and become generally more sustainable in their operations and supply chain. Based on that evaluation, applicants are placed in one of three categories. Only the top 20% achieve the Green Master designation.

"Participating in Green Masters provides an annual assessment that keeps us focused on continuous improvement—whether working with our customers toward a cleaner energy future or working with our employees on daily operations," said Jeff Jaeckels, MGE Director of Safety and Environmental Affairs.

Proactive approach to sustainability

Participating in the Green Masters Program is important to MGE. The objective, points-based program:

MGE was the first utility in Wisconsin to be recognized as a Green Master in 2014.
