Wind Farm Provides Education Opportunities
Every year, middle-school students learn firsthand about sustainable energy at our Rosiere Wind Farm in northern Wisconsin. Over the last 18 years, more than 5,000 students have participated in the tours hosted by our utility subsidiary Madison Gas and Electric (MGE).
MGE built this 11-megawatt (MW) wind farm in 1999. The 300-foot turbines continue to be an integral part of our green energy mix. In 2008, we built a 30-MW wind farm in Kensett, Iowa. Now, MGE is proposing its third wind farm. If approved by state regulators, MGE's 66-MW Saratoga Wind Farm will be the fifth largest investment in MGE Energy's history.
Under our Energy 2030 framework, MGE has set the goal of supplying 25% renewable energy by 2025 and 30% by 2030. We're working toward a more sustainable energy future for generations to come. Watch this brief video to learn what the next generation of energy consumers thinks about wind energy.
