MGE Named Green Master for Sixth Straight Year

Our utility subsidiary, Madison Gas and Electric (MGE), has attained the highest distinction possible in a statewide sustainability program for the sixth consecutive year. The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council announced MGE is being recognized as a 2019 Green Master during the Council's annual conference in December.

The Green Masters program evaluates participating companies on their sustainability actions in nine areas. Companies submit information about steps they have taken to use less energy, cut waste and become more sustainable in their operations and supply chain. Based on that evaluation, applicants are placed in one of three categories. Only the top 20% achieve the Green Master designation.

MGE is one of 27 companies to meet the requirement for the Green Master designation in 2019. More than 125 Wisconsin organizations currently participate in the council's program. MGE was the first utility to be recognized as a Green Master in 2014.
