MGE Leads Major Utility Project
MGE is leading a utility effort for a major Dane County highway expansion project, which is needed to accommodate business and residential growth on Madison's west side.
MGE must relocate its underground natural gas facilities to make way for the Highway M expansion. Work is under way on a three-mile stretch from west Madison to the suburb of Verona.
This is one of MGE's largest gas construction projects in 2017.
MGE also is the lead coordinator for other utilities relocating their underground facilities. MGE and five other utilities—from telecom to fiber-optics—will share one trench. These installations are significant feeds for the region.
With all the utilities combined, approximately 20 miles of pipe will be installed for this project.
