Explore Electric Vehicles with MGE
Madison Gas and Electric (MGE), our regulated utility, is partnering with others across our community to highlight the benefits of electric vehicles at a drive electric celebration off Madison's Capitol Square on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The free event is part of National Drive Electric Week, which runs Sept. 8-16.
MGE's EV experts will join dozens of local EV drivers and dealers to display more than 40 models of battery-electric and plug-in hybrid sedans, crossovers and SUVs. MGE will feature its Chevy Bolt, which can travel up to 238 miles on a single battery charge and go from zero to 60 miles per hour in fewer than 7 seconds. This event is ideal for those who may be interested in EVs but have questions about battery range, charging options or other general questions about "going electric."
Electrifying transportation
Community events, such as this one, are one way MGE is working to electrify transportation. MGE also is advancing EVs by growing our EV public charging network; working with employers, property owners and businesses to facilitate charging options; and partnering with residential customers to enable home charging.
MGE has 30 public charging stations powered by renewable energy throughout the Madison area. MGE also continues to enroll customers in our Charge@Home program, which offers faster, more convenient home charging for residential customers. MGE installs, owns and maintains the chargers for a monthly fee plus the cost of electricity.
