What is the Annual Meeting of Shareholders and when is it held?
The Annual Meeting of Shareholders is your opportunity to:

  • Vote on the election of directors.
  • Act on other MGE Energy business matters, such as management and shareholder proposals.
  • Ask questions.
  • Hear firsthand about your company from our chairman and other senior officers.

The Annual Meeting of Shareholders is typically held in May of each year.

What do shareholders receive in the annual meeting mailing?
You will receive:

  • Annual report
  • Notice of the annual meeting
  • Proxy statement containing the meeting details and describing the items to be voted
  • RSVP form to attend the meeting
  • Proxy card to cast their vote on business matters

Materials are usually mailed 30 to 45 days prior to the meeting. Please vote by returning your completed proxy card or cast your vote by telephone or Internet.

How do I notify MGE Energy that my address changed?
To reduce potential delay in receiving your dividend checks or other shareholder mailings, keep your address information current. You can update the address information:

  • On your dividend check stub.
  • The tear-off portion of your account statement.
  • By contacting Shareholder Services.

May I consolidate my accounts?
If you have more than one account for the same registered owner(s), you may be able to combine the accounts to:

  • Receive one dividend check.
  • Avoid multiple mailings.
  • Save expense for MGE Energy.

Just contact us with your account information (see Contact Us button above).

Is direct dividend deposit available?
We can deposit dividends directly to your financial institution account. We'll send your dividend by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) directly to your designated bank account on the payable date. To sign up for direct deposit, please send MGE Energy a completed Dividend Deposit Authorization Form.

When are dividends paid?
Dividends are typically paid:

  • Quarterly on March 15, June 15, Sept. 15, and Dec. 15.
  • To shareholders who own shares at the close of business on the dividend record date: March 1, June 1, Sept. 1, and Dec. 1.
  • Mailed so they are received by shareholders on the specified payment date.

Is dividend reinvestment available?
Shareholders may elect to have their dividends reinvested in whole or in part in additional MGE Energy common stock rather than paid in cash. Please consult the prospectus (see Stock Purchase Plan button above) for details and enrollment information.

What do I do if a dividend check is lost or stolen?
Contact us immediately. We'll issue a:

  • Stop payment order against the original check.
  • Replacement check.

Once a dividend check is replaced, the original check is no longer valid and must not be cashed if received. The replacement check stub will list the invalid checks.

How can I replace a lost or stolen stock certificate?
Please notify MGE Energy immediately if your stock certificates are lost or stolen. We will:

  • Place a stop transfer on the certificate.
  • Send you the necessary forms for issuing a replacement certificate.
  • Charge you approximately 2% of the market value of the shares (minimum of $25) to purchase the replacement indemnity bond.

How do I transfer shares or change registration?

  • Send any outstanding shares in certificate form. If you are unable to locate all of your certificates, please contact us immediately to begin replacement procedures.
  • Complete an Irrevocable Stock Power form or write a letter of instruction. This document must be signed exactly as the shares are registered on the face of the certificate(s) or statement. The signature(s) must be Medallion guaranteed by an institution such as a commercial bank, trust company, credit union or brokerage firm participating in a Medallion program. Include the following information:
    • The name, address and taxpayer identification number for each new owner.
    • The number of certificates and/or plan shares that will be transferred to each person.
    • If you are transferring certificate shares and there are shares enrolled in the Direct Stock Purchase and Dividend Reinvestment Plan, please indicate if you also want these shares transferred to the new account.
  • Please tell us in a letter if the new account should be enrolled in the Direct Stock Purchase and Dividend Reinvestment Plan.
  • Mail all completed documents along with your stock certificates (if applicable) to the address below:
